Let’s see… petrol in NZ is $1.77/litre right now. Considering that there are 3.8 litres in a US gallon and taking into account the exchange rate on the rapidly collapsing US dollar, that works out to about US$5.50/gallon. And might I say, considerably cheaper in NZ than what most of the rest of the world pays. Consider yourself lucky.

when I was in Regensburg (DE) last month regular gas was €1.25/l, or about $US7.34/gal. Diesel was a little cheaper. no wonder everyone drives diesels in Yurp.
so as much as I bitch about US fuel prices, I guess we really don’t have a clue what it’s like elsewhere.
